Our staff has been really busy during the last days: While the scientists' team has been using the daytime to examine the park areas of Madrid for tracks, observers have been placed close to it during the night, using night vision gear to locate the animal so the photographers could be send there. With this method we finally archived smashing success: in the early moring hours of last night, Señora A. was lucky to get really close to the creature so she could shoot a few wonderful photos. With the so far unpublished of those we'll soon found a gallery so during the next days you can expect to see more pictures.
However, it is certain now that it is not about a single beeing but a whole animal species. Yesterday two of our observers happened to sight "the" animal at the same time in two different parks of the city! Finding out this, among the scientist arose a controversial discussion if to catch one of the creatures. It obviously would be a good chance to examine it more closely but on the other hand it might interfere with it's way of living or even harm the animal.

Exploring animals habits
Caused by the growing recognition of our animal exploring project international scientists are becoming more and more interested in the results. At the moment a team of biologists, physicists and veteranaries is beeing formed with the goal to find out more about the animals habits, origin and geographic range.
From all facts that we have found out so far arise more questions. It is still doubtable if the creature that has been seen is a member of a new, yet undiscovered species. It might also be just a single mutant or a crossbreed of a pet and a wild animal. If it was a species, we would of course also be interensted to know if it can only be found in Madrid or as well in other parts of Spain, maybe even of Europe. It is also still a mystery how it evolved and for how long it has been existing in it's current shape.
Finally there is questions about it`s nutrition, upbringing of offspring and sleeping places. Some people even wonder if it might not be dangerous for humans in certain situations.
All of these questions are to be answered so we are happy to welcome all sort of professional scientists in our team!

First success
Last night our new fellow Señora A. got really close to the animal and shot a foto that shows at least a part of it's body. This should be convincing as a first proof of it's existence and dispel remaining doubts. Señora A. appears confident of getting more pictures soon. Though she has an important demand to everyone who is engaged in the investigations: "Please be carful not to scare the animal! Like most wild animals, it is very shy and should not be frightened. It facilitates my work a lot, if everyone else keeps away from the zone of Parque del Oeste, where I am going to try and take photos of the animal tonight. Please be reasonable and don't try to meet it on your own. You rather help us by leaving me alone to work professional tonight!"

View composite sketch now
Thanks to the help of our hard-working investigators we finally can present a rough sketch of the newly discovered animal.
We also want to thank the many new helpers, who spontaniously got in touch with us. Some of those also confirmed having seen a strange animal in other parks of the city, among those Casa de campo and Parque de Retiro.
In general the animal is mostly described as cow or horselike but very small. It has about the size of a cat or a fox and is very shy. According to some eyewitnesses it has horns, a short dark mane and a long tail.
From now on we especially count on the cooperation of Señora A. who is a professional animal and wildlife photographer. In answer to yesterday's article she kindly offered us to spend two days on our project.

Animal nocturnal & afraid of people!
The lastest news regarding the unidentified animal seen in the center of Madrid:
Unfortunately the research about this animal is massively hindered by its lifestyle and habits. Although Señor M. as well as his two sons, his wife and two of their neighbours have been trying to take a photo of the animal during the past three nights, none of them has succeeded yet. Still, each of them is convinced of its existence.
The family's statement concerning this topic: "We soon discovered that this is a nocturnal animal, at least we have never managed to meet it during the daytime. But this is what makes it so hard to photograph it. We really need a better camera, that takes good pictures in the dark! As soon as we tried to use a flash it ran away and wouldn't come out again. Anyway it is hard to come up to the animal. We assume it has a very good sense of smell, so mostly it will hide before we can see it."
In summation, the latest conclusions are that our animal is nocturnal, afraid of light as well as of mankind and has a very effective way to detect human beeings. This might also be the explanation for it beeing able to live undiscoverd until now.
Right at the moment we are working on a composite sketch of the animal, combining the observations of everyone who has seen it so far. The sketch will be published in this blog tomorrow.

10-year-old discovers unknown animal
MADRID Last weekend a 10-year-old boy watched a strange animal when walking his dog in the late evening hours. He discribed it to his parents as cowlike but in the size of a dog or a cat.
First they wouldn't believe him, asuming he only wanted to draw their attention off the fact he had been out that late at night. As the boy kept on insisting, his father accompanied him the next day to Madrid's Parque del Oeste, where the child claimed to have seen the unknown animal.
Not beeing lucky in the daytime, father and son retured again in the night and actually managed to catch another glimpse of the animal. "It is unbelievable! This beeing is living in the middle of a metropolis and nowone has seen it so far! We wonder if the species has evolved from runaway pets or if it might be extraterrestrial" comments Señor M., the boy's father.
Although the animal didn't seem dangerous on first glance, the parent decided to inform the police. "They thought we were crazy, but anyway we didn't really expect them to believe us, as we hadn't even believed our own son when he first told us" sais Señor M. but he adds quickly: "The whole family is very exited now and wants to keep on investigating about that misterious animal!"
This blog was created to inform the public about all further investigations and to gather information. If you can give any hints or have also seen this beeig in the past, please help us to find out more about it! We are happy about all kinds of information, such as fotos, descriptions or sketches of the animal or places where it has been seen.
